Revive! East Anglia – Nathan

Nathan Holmes started Revive! Cambridge in 2007. He’d been working as a utility meter reader and was ready for a change. It was time for him to be his own boss and as a car enthusiast the Revive! opportunity seemed to be the perfect choice.

After training at head office he took to the road and picked up dealership business in the very first week. Looking to expand Revive! Cambridge further in 2012, ambitious Nathan offered Andy Blackhurst and Adam Holmes the opportunity to buy into the business. Andy was his first employee and Adam Holmes a long-time friend. Although Adam and Nathan share the same surname and live in the same village, they aren’t actually related.

In 2016 the company changed name due to their rapid territory expansion and are now known as Revive! East Anglia.

“I couldn’t achieve what I wanted to achieve by working for other people. I wanted control of my own destiny” said Nathan.

Back in 2012 the company had a 5 year plan to hit a target of £500,000 sales turnover. In 2015 the company exceeded their target and turned over £685,000. The trio have now re-evaluated their target and are planning to hit the £2 million mark by 2020.

Revive! West Lincs, East Lincs and Nottinghamshire – Russell Hudson

Russell Hudson joined Revive! UK in 2006 after previously working for a software company as an Account Manager.

“I was doing a lot of mileage and spending a lot of nights away from home which is why I wanted to change” said Russell. “Moving from a well-paid career to starting up on your own was daunting which made the franchise route so appealing because it is established and it has a better chance of succeeding.”

Since 2006, Russell has grown his business to a team of 8 and is looking to hit the £1 million turnover mark in the next 18 months. Eventually Russell wants to step back from his business and bring in a management team which will allow him to spend even more time with his family.

Revive! Guildford – Jay Belam

Jay Belam joined Revive! back in 2011 after a 12 year career in the army as a Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineer. “After 12 years I got to the point where I wanted to start my own business, move on and look for another career. I always wanted to be my own boss” Jay explained.

Because Jay had a young family he wanted a safety net and a bit of security as opposed to setting up completely on his own. That’s why the franchise route was the right route for him.

We could see Jay fitting into the Revive! brand with his determination to build a business and his focus on delivering great customer service, so it was easy for us to grant him a Revive! franchise.

Since starting out as one man in a van in 2011, Jay has grown his business to a 5 van fleet servicing the local Guildford area. Jay turned over £37,483 in June 2016 is one of the top performers in the Revive! network and in the next 5 years Jay he is looking to double the size of his business to 10 vans.

Revive! Bath – Matt Woodall

Matt started up his Revive! franchise in 2007 at age 20 after graduating from University. “Before starting my franchise I was at university studying towards a degree in business which is where my interests lie. I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do but I knew I wanted to be my own boss and I had a keen interest in cars” said Matt.

Matt has been building his business since then and now runs a 3 van operation with aspirations of achieving £125,000 turnover this year.

“The most enjoyable things about owning your own business are that I can choose my own working hours, manage my own diary and I don’t have to answer to a boss day to day. I am self-employed and self-sufficient”.

Adam Smith

From ‘one man in a van’ to a twelve-strong fleet, Adam Smith has come a long way since launching his Revive! franchise in 2008 with his fiancée and co-owner, Kim Richardson.

Adam studied Organic Chemistry at The University of Bristol, achieving a 2:1, before joining an American pharmaceutical company in Harlow.  It was here that he met Kim, who was doing a placement at the company during the final year of a Bio-chemistry degree.

After spending twelve months travelling the world together, the pair decided it was time to return to the UK. Having already experienced redundancy working in the big business of pharmaceuticals, Adam perceived early on that a ‘job for life’ doesn’t exist anymore. He set out to be his own boss and opted to buy a franchise knowing that a proven business model was the best way to start working for himself.

Adam sought advice from his father Peter, a business consultant for Revive!, the leading provider of top quality smart repairs. He suggested Adam meet Revive! Director Mark Llewellyn since he knew his son had a keen interest in cars and thought he might enjoy running a car-related business.

Following a successful meeting with the franchisor, Adam realised that Revive! offered a business model that fitted directly into his personal plans. Within his first month of joining Revive! Adam had set a record for the highest monthly sales turnover in the opening month achieving over £6,000. Fast-forward a few years, Adam is still setting records, with a recent month’s turnover topping £85,000.

With twelve full-time employees, the mainstay of the business is long-term relationships with car dealerships. Some of these dealerships were brought on during their first week trading seven years ago, a testament to the team’s reliability and dedication. Adam has expanded his territory to now cover most of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire as well Milton Keynes.

Year on year his Revive! business has seen a significant increase in turnover achieving £589,000 in May 2015 and £725,000 in May 2016. With continued hard work Adam believes they may hit the £1M mark by the end of the year.

Adam credits the franchisor for their continued support and says as franchise owners they are encouraged and supported by the Revive! central team to grow their business and their profitability.

“On- going training is a key aspect of Revive! UK. All Revive! technicians are given the opportunity to be put through the Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) scheme meaning we will continue to lead the way in delivering top quality service to customers, setting us apart from competitors in a tough marketplace.”
